Audi Q5 Two-Piece Rim Refinish and Blackout Package
This Audi Q5 came in for a simple visual upgrade.
The owner wanted the car cleaned up visually without doing anything over the top.
Blacked out look, but done properly. Rims and badges.
What We Did:
The main work on this job was the rims. These were not standard one-piece wheels.
They were two-piece, which changes everything in terms of prep and finish.
With a two-piece wheel, you cannot just treat it like a normal rim and spray over it. The finish needs to be separated properly. In this case, we split the visual layers.
The base was taken back and refinished in gloss black as the underlay, then the original outer colour sections were reapplied to keep the factory-style contrast.
Getting that right takes time.
You are working around different surfaces, edges, and transitions. If you rush it, you end up with uneven build-up or poor separation lines. The goal here was to make it look intentional, not modified for the sake of it.
All four wheels were removed, prepped, and refinished with proper adhesion and paint processes.
Once cured, everything was reassembled and checked to make sure the finish sat clean across both sections of the wheel.
Badges were straightforward. Full gloss black across the car.
Removed, prepped, refinished, and reinstalled so they sit flush and factory.
Two-piece rims are where a lot of shops get caught out. If you treat them like a standard wheel, the end result looks cheap.
When done properly, you keep the structure of the original design but sharpen the overall look of the car.
The gloss black underlay changes how the wheel reads without losing the original styling.
Combined with black badges, the car ends up cleaner, more cohesive, and closer to an OEM+ finish.
